Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) A new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) opens on 29 April 2019 at the Tameside Hospital site (next to A&E). The new centre – our new broader and better offer – replaces the existing Walk in Centre (WIC) at Ashton Primary Care Centre (which closes the day before). Initially people with an urgent need will be able seek support at the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) by walking in between 9.00am – 9.00pm, 7 days a week. Later in the year as well as the ability to walk in, anyone registered with a GP practice in Tameside & Glossop will have access to a range of bookable appointments through their GP or NHS111. This will complement the range of appointments currently available in the evenings and at weekends through the Primary Care Access Service (PCAS).
Ring NHS 111
NHS 111 is available all year round.
When you ring 111, you will speak to an experienced triage nurse, who can offer advice about a wide range of ailments.
Your needs will be assessed and advice offered.
Additional information on all of the services above can be found on the NHS Choices website at www.nhs.co.uk
The website also provides information on health conditions and their treatment and management.
Ring 999 or visit the Accident & Emergency department at Tameside General Hospital
The Accident & Emergency department at Tameside General Hospital should be used for medical emergencies ONLY.
Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
The Accident and Emergency Department should only be used by people with serious injuries or serious illness requiring immediate treatment, but we realise that people are not always sure where else to go.
By using the other services described above, next time you need treatment, you can avoid a lengthy wait at the hospital as well as helping us make sure A&E is there to look after those who need it the most.
